Danube Vltava Sava Polymer Meeting: Vienna, September 5-8, 2017

The field of polymer science continues year after year to steadily advance fueled both by academic enthusiasm and by industrial pragmatism. The numerous environmental and economic benefits of polymers make these materials popular for manufacturers, fabricators and consumers within a wide range of different industrial sectors.

The Danube Vltava Sava Polymer Meeting (DVSPM) aims to bring together the brightest minds from both academia and industry to collectively present and discuss the fundamental issues within this still burgeoning field. The meeting consists of seminars from international leaders of polymer science with topics addressing critical issues such as synthesis, analytical methods, modelling, structure-property relations, polymer processing, as well as applications.

The DVSPM Meeting has its origin in the Austrian Polymer Days that are held bianually since the beginning of the 90s. The first DVSPM meeting was held in Gmunden, in 2015. This 3 river conference (Danube, Vltava, Sava) builds also on the tradition of the “Austrian Slovenian Polymer Meeting”, and the “Advances in Polymer Science & Technology” bringing together the polymer communities of the central European region. Looking to continue a tradition of excellence set by the previous meetings, the Vienna University of Technology will host the second Symposium to be held September 5-8, 2017.

It is the intention of the organizers to provide ample time for discussion to emphasize the workshop character and stimulate the exchange of new ideas. The program will contain numerous invited talks given by respectable scientists working in the field of polymer science. In addition, other contributed papers with 15 minutes allotted for presentations as well as posters may be submitted.

In 2017, DVSPM is also hosting the International H. F. Mark Symposium 2017, held on Thursday 7th at the conference venue.

This meeting will run under the banner “Building Polymer Bridges”. Therefore it is our aim to cover fundamental understanding of polymer chemistry, characterization and processing, as well as the translation of this knowledge to the industrial field. Topics that will be discussed at the meeting include: (but are by no means limited to):
